The summer is heating up! Use these tips to help your employees stay cool on the job site.
We’re nearly done with the first month of summer, but the mercury is only going to continue to rise in July. Your team is adjusting to the hotter days, but are they being as careful with their bodies as they should be? The summer heat is a major health hazard. Don’t let it get overlooked! Educate your employees on these ways to stay cool on the job site.
Drink up.
This is an obvious way to avoid heat-related illness, but people still don’t do it! If you notice your team isn’t drinking much water, make it easier for them. Make sure you’ve got water readily available at multiple locations on your job site. Also, consider investing in non-disposable water bottles. This small expense can help you avoid a major heat-related incident this summer.
Rest up.
Your team knows they have deadlines to meet, but do they know it’s equally important to take care of themselves? Make sure shade is available and encourage your employees to take a break if they’re feeling light-headed or weak. Even a few minutes out of the sun can be enough to bring down the body’s temperature and avoid heat illness.
Dress up.
Encourage your employees to wear lightweight, light-colored clothing – ideally with some kind of moisture wicking capabilities. Also, make sure they have sunglasses to shield their eyes. Dressing properly can make all the difference.
