Under direction of our own Shahrad Nahai, MainStage 2015 sees major success! Here’s a recap.
What do you get when you gather many of the media industry’s most influential people in a room and invite them to speak to 20- and 30-somethings? MainStage 2015! This year’s major event atInthesphere100was a smashing success. As the first-ever fundraiser of its kind for The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, it paved the way for many more years of engaging events with a philanthropic leaning.
MainStage 2015 invited Ben Winston, the executive producer of The Late Late Show with James Corden; Mitch Hurwitz, creator of Arrested Development; Sean Rad, founder and CEO of Tinder; Ben Silverman, former co-chairman of NBC Entertainment; Susanne Daniels, head of original content at YouTube; and other powerful people to take the stage. The event aimed to engage young Jews in Jewish life, and it succeeded! The turnout alone was impressive.
Filling seats wasn’t the only success of MainStage 2015, though. The event also netted $20,000. Much of that will go towards the Federation’s work. $50 of every $75 ticket goes to provide home and health care for Holocaust survivors, fund scholarships for teens to visit Israel, and engage with Black and Latino communities.
Chairs Shahrad Nahai and Marlyse Phlaum played big roles in this inaugural event’s success. After 2015’s MainStage saw such turnout, engagement, and support, it will definitely be exciting to see what they do at 2016’s event!
We’re very proud that our very own Shahrad Nahai was able to be a part of such an important event.
